How it all began...

Joe's passion for the piano ignited at the age of 13, and despite starting relatively late, he quickly progressed with the support of his great grandmother's funding. Within just four years, Joe achieved grade 8 ABRSM proficiency and impressed audiences with performances in his hometown of Redditch. His talent caught the attention of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he earned a part scholarship and honed both his playing and teaching skills.​

Accomplishments:

Joe's prowess led him to be recognized as a finalist and winner in various competitions, including the prestigious David Brookes Piano Competition, where he showcased his deep understanding of the great Russian romantics. Guided by accomplished pianists like Peter Donohoe, Andrei Gavrilov, Idil Biret, and Orit Wolf, with David Quigley as his main teacher, Joe has flourished not only as a performer but also as an effective and dedicated teacher.​​

Demonstrations of Joe's versatility extends beyond solo performances, as he has demonstrated remarkable talent in chamber music, mastering the Tchaikovsky Piano Trio in A minor and various vocal and ensemble works from Schubert to Schnittke.

What now?

After graduating from the conservatoire, Joe expanded his horizons by teaching in Birmingham, China, Nottingham, Hanoi and Redditch where he has dedicated himself to teaching and performing with unwavering commitment. Joe's students range from budding pianists to seasoned concert performers, and he consistently guides them to excel in exams, auditions, and solo performances, earning praise and achieving outstanding results.
